Our environmental policy is based on the following 5 core principles:
1. Compliance with environmental legislation. We comply with all relevant environmental legislation and regulations to ensure that our operations are carried out in a responsible and sustainable manner.
2. Reduction of waste. We are committed to reducing waste in all our operations. We minimise the use of paper by using electronic communication and storing documents digitally. We also recycle as much waste as possible, including paper, cardboard, plastics, and metals.
3. Energy efficiency. We strive to reduce our energy consumption and use renewable energy sources where possible. We encourage our staff to switch off electrical appliances when not in use. Our office and warehouse facilities don’t not use gas as a utility, and all lighting throughout is energy-efficient.
4. Sustainable transport. We employ locally and encourage our staff to use walk, bicycles or car-sharing schemes to get to work where possible to reduce our carbon footprint. We also aim to minimise the use of company vehicles and, where necessary, use low-emission or electric vehicles.
5. Continuous improvement. We are committed to continuous improvement in our environmental performance. We regularly review our practices and procedures to identify areas where we can reduce our impact on the environment.
Hygiene UK's current efforts to reduce carbon footprint and promote environmental consciousness
Hygiene UK is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and promoting environmental responsibility. To achieve this, we have implemented sustainable practices that prioritise eco-friendly modes of transportation, encourage local employment, and promote remote working.
Local employment: By employing locally, Hygiene UK is minimising the need for long-distance commuting, which reduces the greenhouse gas emissions associated with transportation, such as fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. Additionally, it supports the local economy and helps to build a strong and sustainable community.
Cycling or walking to work: We encourage staff to use eco-friendly modes of transportation, such as cycling or walking to work. This reduces the carbon footprint associated with commuting and promotes a healthy and active lifestyle for our employees.
